Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" is a psychedelic album that follows the style of their previous albums. However, unlike Pink Floyd's previous albums, "The Dark Side of the Moon" is not as experimental. This album is the first album by Pink Floyd in which its songs correlate to eachother, or they all contain a similar theme. This album was not the very first thematic album of its time, however. A majority of the songs from this album actually refer to Pink Floyd's former member, Syd Barrett, who had left the band do an unhealthy state of mind. This is Pink Floyd's second album recorded after Barrett left, when he was replaced by David Gilmour. "The Dark Side of the Moon" was also Pink Floyd's first big hit."And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes I'll see you on the dark side of the moon."This album appeals to anyone that’s looking for some music to chill out to. My personal favorite from the album is "Brain Damage". "The Dark Side of the Moon" also went on to influence future bands, such as YES.
