Bert Sommer

Bert Sommer was an American singer-songwriter and actor who rose to fame after his performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. He released his self-titled debut album in 1970, which showcased his folk-rock style and his poetic lyrics. The album featured songs such as « Jennifer », « She’s Gone », « Things Are Goin’ My Way » and « America ». The album received critical acclaim but failed to achieve commercial success, partly due to Sommer’s reluctance to promote himself. Sommer continued to record and perform throughout the 1970s, but never matched the impact of his first album. He died in 1990 at the age of 41 from a respiratory illness. Bert Sommer is considered one of the most underrated and overlooked artists of his generation, and his music remains influential and relevant today.
