Blue & Lonesome is the 23rd studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 2 December 2016. It is a blues album, and the band’s first to consist entirely of cover songs.

The album was a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. It won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2017.

Critical reception

The album was generally well-received by critics. AllMusic gave the album four out of five stars, and called it “a fine return to form for the Rolling Stones.” Rolling Stone gave the album three out of five stars, and said that it was “a solid tribute to the blues.”

The album Blue & Lonesome was a commercial success, selling over one million copies worldwide. It peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2017.
