Degüello is a 1979 album by the American rock band ZZ Top. It was their first album on Warner Bros. Records and it went platinum. The album was produced by Bill Ham and featured a mix of blues, boogie rock and punk influences. The title of the album means “decapitation” or “no quarter” in Spanish and it refers to a bugle call used by the Mexican Army at the Battle of the Alamo. The album includes two cover songs: “I Thank You” by Isaac Hayes and David Porter and “Dust My Broom” by Robert Johnson. Degüello also marked the debut of the legendary beards of Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill.
Degüello is considered to be one of ZZ Top’s most successful and influential albums. It helped to solidify the band’s reputation as one of the leading bands of the 1970s, and it spawned several hit singles. The album is still highly regarded by fans and critics today.
