So is the fifth studio album by English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, released on 19 May 1986 by Charisma Records. The album marked a stylistic shift from Gabriel’s previous experimental and progressive rock-oriented albums, towards a more accessible and pop-oriented sound, influenced by African and Brazilian music. The album features several of Gabriel’s most successful singles, such as “Sledgehammer”, “Big Time”, “Don’t Give Up” (a duet with Kate Bush), and “In Your Eyes” (a collaboration with Youssou N’Dour). So received critical acclaim from music critics and was a commercial success, becoming Gabriel’s best-selling solo album to date. It also earned him several awards and nominations, including the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and the Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist. So is widely regarded as one of the best albums of the 1980s and one of Gabriel’s finest works.

So is considered one of the most important albums of the 1980s. It is cited as an influence by a wide range of artists, including Radiohead, Coldplay, and U2. The album is still highly regarded by fans and critics today.
